It’s 2025, and yet many people in Cameroon still waste hours and money going to bus stations just to buy a ticket. They stand in long lines, deal with sudden price increases, and often find seats sold out.
But things have changed. Today, you can book your bus ticket right from your phone—no need to leave your house.
So Why Are People Not Using These Services?
Many people still don’t know these platforms exist. Others are not used to doing things online. Also, there hasn’t been enough support from the government to push digital ticketing forward.
How the Government Can Help?
Launch Public Awareness Campaigns
The Cameroon Ministry of Transport can partner with local tech startups—such as Ticket237 Company LTD, the parent company of MotorBoy Cameroon, which already works with major bus companies in Bamenda, Yaoundé, Douala, and Buea. As a leader in digital ticketing, Ticket237/Motorboy can help drive national awareness campaigns highlighting the benefits of e-ticketing, including convenience, price transparency, time savings, and safer travel.
Provide Digital Incentives
The government can offer small discounts or travel subsidies for passengers who book tickets online. This would encourage early adoption and help shift public behavior toward digital platforms.
Partner with Mobile Operators
Collaborate with telecom providers like MTN and Orange to zero-rate or reduce data charges for e-ticketing apps, ensuring more users can access these platforms without worrying about mobile data costs.
Enforce Digital Integration in Transport Companies
Make it mandatory for all major bus companies—such as Vatican Express, Amour Mezam, Garanti Express, Moghamo Express, Oasis Travel, and others—to integrate at least one digital booking or payment option into their operations. This will create a uniform standard for digital access across the transport sector.
Support Digital Literacy Programs
Integrate e-transport and mobile app training into digital literacy programs, especially targeting secondary schools, universities, and rural communities. This will empower more citizens to confidently use e-ticketing platforms and benefit from digital public services.
Some Online Bus Ticketing Platforms in Cameroon
MotorBoy Cameroon – Leading bus ticketing service in Cameroon with a user-friendly app and WhatsApp integration for easy reservations. Partners with major bus companies in Bamenda, Yaoundé, Douala, and Buea.
Astro-Fast – Offers digital ticketing services across major cities.
Bookaam – E-ticketing solution for intercity bus travel in Cameroon.
Camerbus – Provides online ticket reservations for various bus operators.
Bus237 – Aggregates bus companies for easy ticket comparison and booking.
Lohce – Known for educational services, but also supports digital ticketing in partnerships.
Despite the convenience these platforms offer, adoption is still slow—mainly due to limited awareness, digital literacy gaps, and lack of government backing. In a time when smartphones are widely used in Cameroon, it is time to stop wasting precious time and embrace digital convenience. E-bus ticketing is not just the future—it should already be the norm.
